This year we are offering for the first time ever Firefighter Functional Conditioning Peer Trainer Qualification Program. This opportunity will be limited to 12 people. Candidates will train as students on day 1 (basic) and day 2 (advanced) and will serve as an assistant instructor on day 3. Peer trainer candidates will be mentored and evaluated by senior instructors on day 3. This will provide positive re-enforcement and insure a productive learning experience. Please include your shirt size so we can order your instructor shirt. Our goal is to provide you with the instruction; support and equipment you need to take this information home and share it with our brothers. The life you save may be your own.
This seminar is by firefighters and for firefighters – BC Zar Horton and FF. Charles Bustos of the Albuquerque NM FD will be coming out – As will John Slattery of the Atlantic City FD. Profits will be used to support the Bridgeport Fallen Firefighter foundation and firefighter wellness programs.
We realize that this is very short notice. We also realize that firefighters are used to high value, time sensitive, critical decision making. If this is what you are looking for contact us today and reserve your spot. You will not be disappointed. The instructors are the very best at what they do. Google us and find out. If you want to learn what really works – for you or those we serve beside - this is the ticket. Our target audience is you – superman or not – broken or not – firefighters get the job done – let us show you how to get it done a little better – without getting hurt in the process. Any help spreading the word would be most appreciated.

Upcoming Training Seminar
Ash Creek Fitness will be hosting the 3rd annual Firefighter Functional Conditioning training seminar on November 4, 5, and 6 2011. Seminar 1 and 2 were extremely successful. The stories we have heard and the lives that have been changed is nothing short of amazing. This is due to many factors - the quality of the instruction - world class - the passion of the instructors - also world class- the effectiveness of the training methods - state of the art - and most importantly - the hard work of those who used these tools to change their own lives.
Most people, especially firefighters, want to get fit - the challenge is how? We do what we know. Unfortunately - what we did when we were 17 is not going to work when we are 35, or 47, or 62. In all truth it didn't work really well at 17. The majority of training methods my coaches or the "big" guys at the gym taught me were based on flawed research. Any movement will cause the body to adapt or change - the challenge is make this change efficient and specific. To learn and apply purposeful training methods that get the job done in very short amount of time, only as much as is necessary, and that meets the performance goals for the specific athlete - in our case firefighters. The final and most important variable is "nobody gets hurt."
60% of all training programs end with injury. The majority (according to research studies) of those who start an exercise program and stop because of a training injury do not return to their training. Those who do often loose 4-6 weeks of training and may need to perform hours of rehab and physical therapy just to return to their starting point.
Smart Training: The training methods we teach are designed not only to strengthen those movement patterns that most often result in fire ground injuries, but more importantly, by using Z health dynamic joint mobility we can fix many mobility problems before they result in injury. More importantly - we can teach you how to use range of motion to determine if your body likes what you are doing - good exercise - or doesn't like what you are doing - bad exercise that will get you hurt.
At this seminar we will give you the tools to train efficiently, the knowledge to train safely, and the work out programs that will tie it all together. Dr. Vida of Harding High School in Bridgeport put it the best when we were discussing science - she said "Science is not something you memorize - it's something you know." The same is true with functional movement training - after this seminar you will know how to train. How you use it will determine your level of function and fitness.

30 days and counting - firefighters work best under pressure
You can't put together a training seminar like this in 30 days. No way - it sucks - but this maybe the only way. Zar and Charles are coming out - we are going this thing - it will be an incredible adventure - hope you can share it.
